Cell Phone WiFi Calling trick for stable calls
Since some cellphone carriers have poor service on campus, it is recommended that you turn on WiFi Calling on your phone if it is available. You can usually find it under Settings/Cellular. WiFi calling will attempt to use the Randolph WiFi network to place a call over the internet rather than using your cellular data provider. Since we have pretty good WiFi service in the buildings across campus, this might be the only way to get a call. WiFi calling does not do well in areas where your cellular provider can still get some signal to you as it will switch off in favor of the cellular signal. This will usually drop your call or make it sound robotic. A fix for this is to put your phone into airplane mode then turn on Wifi. This makes your phone only use Wifi Calling and cannot switch back to your cellular provider. This should allow you to make a call without it dropping or getting robotic on you. When you are done click on airplane mode again to turn back on your cellular.
