Telephone Services at Randolph College

This guide provides detailed instructions for using the telephone services on campus, including phone manuals, extensions, voicemail, and call forwarding.

Phone Numbers at Randolph College

• On-Campus Calls:
  Use the last four digits of the phone number to call any number on campus.

• Switchboard Number (Off-Campus):
  Call (434) 947-8000.

• Extensions:

  • 80XX Extensions: Dial (434) 485-80XX from a cell phone or off-campus phone.

  • 8XXX Extensions: Dial (434) 947-8XXX from a cell phone or off-campus phone.

  • 5XXX or 1XXX Extensions: Dial (434) 455-5XXX or 455-1XXX.

  • 4XXX Extensions: Cannot be dialed from off-campus. Call the switchboard to be transferred.

• Making Outside Calls:
  Press 7 before dialing.

Transferring Calls

To Voicemail:

1. Press CFwdALL or FwdAll on your phone (depending on the model).

2. Press the “*” key followed by your extension.

To Forward Calls:

1. Press CFwdALL or FwdAll.

2. Enter the desired number.

   • For off-campus numbers, prefix with 7.

   • For long-distance calls, charges may apply and require departmental approval.

3. To cancel, press CFwdALL or FwdOff.

Voicemail FAQ

Key Features:

• Voicemail messages can be checked via phone or delivered to your email (Outlook only).
  Note: Gmail accounts do not receive voicemail messages.

Setting Up Voicemail:

1. Dial 8700 from your phone.

   • If using a new phone, the default password is 123456.

2. Follow prompts to set up a voicemail greeting (found under Set Up Options #4).

3. For assistance, contact Telephone Services at x8326 or 434-947-8326.

Checking Voicemail:

• From Your Phone: Dial 8700 and enter your password.

• From Off-Campus:

  1. Dial 947-8700.

  2. Press “*” during the recording.

  3. Enter your extension as your ID, followed by your password.

• From Another Campus Phone:
  Follow the off-campus procedure.

Voicemail Deletion:

• Deleting messages via email will also delete them from your phone and vice versa.

• Important: Saved voicemail messages can accumulate and may prevent receiving new voicemails. Regularly delete unneeded messages.
